The AFTE Journal is the official publication of the Association of Firearm and Tool Mark Examiners (AFTE) and is dedicated to the sharing of information, techniques and procedures. All manuscripts published in The AFTE Journal are reviewed for scientific validity, logical reasoning, and sound methodology. Where applicable, a double-blind peer review method will be used. The editor, assistant editors, and the editorial review panel conduct a detailed review of all manuscripts prior to publication. Published manuscripts are then subject to post-publication review by readers of the AFTE Journal. The "Letters to the Editor” section of the AFTE Journal provides a forum for post-publication review.
All published manuscripts, keywords, and abstracts can be electronically searched via a Searchable Journal Index. Additionally, all issues from 2013 on are listed with SCOPUS, an abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature, including scientific journals, books and conference proceedings.
Opinions and views expressed in the AFTE Journal are solely those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of the Editor, the Editorial Committee, or the AFTE membership.
A subscription to the AFTE Journal is available through the AFTE Treasurer. Subscription rates and a subscription application can be found by selecting the appropriate link in the menu to the left. Prepayment of the subscription fee is required. Claims for non-receipt of an AFTE Journal must be submitted in writing within six months following the date of publication. AFTE members receive a subscription to the AFTE Journal as part of their membership dues. Information concerning membership is available through the Association’s Membership Secretary.
