The Association of Firearm and Toolmark Examiners, AFTE, offers a certification program to qualified AFTE members. The purpose of the Association in presenting this program is two fold:

* To act toward the public benefit by attesting that successful applicants meet certain standards as defined by members of AFTE.

* To promote professionalism among firearm and toolmark examiners by establishing certification as a level of accomplishment.

Practical examinations are offered at or near the applicant's workplace, or the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Ammendale, Maryland laboratory. They are proctored by a designate of the Certification Committee.

Certification practical tests may not be ordered until the applicant has taken and passed the written test in the same subject area.  The practical test fee includes shipping to any destination within the United States. If you are purchasing a practical test that will need to be shipped outside the United States, Puerto Rico, or U.S. Virgin Islands, then please add the International Shipping Fee to your order. If you are ordering more than one practical test on the same order, international shipping only needs to be purchased once. Return shipping is the responsibility of the sender.
